Kyle Petersen

ASSISTANT EDITOR

Somewhere around the turn of the century, Kyle Petersen fell hard for rock and roll and hasn’t recovered since. Although he spends most of his time teaching writing and composition at the University of South Carolina-Columbia and quixotically pursuing a doctorate in 20th century American Literature, Kyle frequently moonlights as an arts and culture writer and critic for a number of regional publications, including Columbia Free Times, Charlotte Creative Loafing, Asheville Mountain Xpress, Shuffle, and undefined, the last of which he served as music editor from 2010-2011.  Prior to that he blogged about music at Dark Southern Hearts, Aftermath USA, SceneSC, No Depression, and Twangville. He also served as Music Director for WUSC 90.5 FM in 2008-2009 and currently produces a podcast with One Columbia executive director Lee Snelgrove called Art, Pop & Fizz. Kyle has been with Jasper Magazine since its inception in 2011. His theme song is “The House That Heaven Built” by Japandroids.
